This book is amazing! I love reading it. It is so humane and it explains in simple vocabulary the horrors of the Holocaust. The fact that Death is considered one of the characters and narrator, gives the story a human side that I had not seen before.

The Book Thief is about a girl who lives in 1939, Nazi Germany. Liesel Meminger is adopted by Rosa and Hans Hubermann after her mother leaves her and her brother died. Liesel, with the help of her father, learns how to read. Liesel begins stealing books wherever she can find them. Liesel's relationships with the mayor's wife, her hated neighbors, and the Jewish man her family is hiding in the basement, grow stronger because of Liesel's family hiding a Jew. I like this book because it is narrated by death. Making death an important character in the story makes it more interesting because it is the main antagonist that none of the characters address as evil, but only as something feared. The characters like Rudy, Liesel's best friend, Liesel's mom, who is strict in a loving way, and Liesel's dad, who comforts her when she has nightmares, and cheers her up with his accordian help Liesel express herself and help her enjoy life more.
After reading The Book Thief I personally think this book was very interesting. This book was a great choice of reading because its unique. This book doesn't having a lot of happy endings; but it makes you interested as to why its not. Liesel is a girl that is different from other people no one that I know or heard of steals books for a great cause. Coming from a background of no family she turned out pretty alright. What makes things most interesting is that she doesn't know how to read at all, although she still manages to get a book whenever she can. I recommend this mood because it influences people that its okay to be different.

I saw the movie and it was very sad. The movie showed me the good and hard times of life.This movie was very inspiring. I suggest you guys should watch the movie! I watched this movie with my friends and it made some of them cry. This movie was truly a good movie.
