Raina Telgemeier's #1 New York Times bestselling, Eisner Award-winning graphic memoir based on her childhood!

Raina just wants to be a normal sixth grader. But one night after Girl Scouts she trips and falls, severely injuring her two front teeth. What follows is a long and frustrating journey with on-again, off-again braces, surgery, embarrassing headgear, and even a retainer with fake teeth attached. And on top of all that, there's still more to deal with: a major earthquake, boy confusion, and friends who turn out to be not so friendly.

Smile is a book that includes realistic fiction and problems that actual kids in Earth face. This story is about how Raina fell down from a race that her friends challenged her from. When Raina's mom set a dentist appointment for Raina, Raina freaked out. She always thought that braces were bad, and she had other things on her mind, which makes her lose focus. In the end, it turns out that Raina doesn't mind the braces staying in her mouth any longer.

Smile By: Raina Telgemeier Publish date : February, 1, 2010 Smile is about a girl who got braces for the first time. She thought her friends might judge her for her appearance but then something happened on the first day she got her braces but she did not care. She realized the getting something you absolutely need won’t be so bad! Her conscience got to her brain before she thought it was not so bad. I would say the moral of the story is don’t judge someone by their appearance. I would recommend this book because it helps you realize that getting braces is not so bad from a girls perspective. This book is great for 9-10 year olds and this book is level around 3rd to 8th grades.

This book is awesome because when she got braces, she thought she wouldn't fit in like she did when she didn't have braces. There are other things that happened too, but i'm talking about the main problem. I just love this book and totally recommend this book to all - By I_Make_Reviews

I don't like how the girls friends treated her. They shouldn't pull her skirt off and let everyone know about it. She must felt embarrassed when everyone was looking at her.

this book inspires kids that think they don't fit in to believe that they can fit in. No matter if you have braces, glasses, head gear, or anything else, don't be afraid to show who you are inside. From falling down to braces to head gear, Raina trusted her dentist and she was able to make her teeth look great again. This should relate to kids who are scared and think they are nerds, to encourage themselves and talk to a grown up in case if they get bullied. This book is a very encouraging and i hope you like it!!!
