Once our world was full of dragons who lived in harmony with humans. But after a group of rogue dragons, the Raptors, tried to take over Earth, all dragons were banished to another realm.

Most humans forgot about the dragons, claiming they never existed. Eleven-year-old Sirin knows the truth -- she grew up with stories passed down through the generations. However, when her mother falls ill, even Sirin has trouble believing in magic . . . until she sees a mysterious streak of silver in the night sky.

Sirin becomes the first child to "lock" with a dragon in centuries -- forming a deep friendship unlike anything she's ever imagined. But Sirin learns that not all dragons returned with good intentions, and soon she finds herself at the center of a battle between the dragons who want to protect the humans . . . and those who want to destroy them.

The book is mainly about three kids who are called Joss, Annie, and Sirin. Most people do not believe that dragons existed, but Sirin thinks that dragons are real. Meanwhile, Joss finds a Silver egg, which is the key to the lost lands, but the Raptors are also after the eggs. Can Joss and Allie escape from the Raptors and save the Silver? Also, if you take Sirin out of book, it won't change anything.

This book was kind of mediocre. The main protagonist Sirin is so bad.Remove her from the plot and there would be no tremendous effect to the plot whatsoever. On the other hand Joss and Allie were the best characters in this book. They actually had somewhat of a personality that made you care for them. Lysander was also pretty good. The battle near the end of the book was the best part of the book.It was full of action and suspense that put me on the edge of my seat.Overall this book was okay and it wasn't absolutely horrendous.I would give this book 3 1/2 stars.
