In her first novel since The One and Only Ivan, winner of the Newbery Medal, Katherine Applegate delivers an unforgettable and magical story about family, friendship, and resilience.
Jackson and his family have fallen on hard times. There's no more money for rent. And not much for food, either. His parents, his little sister, and their dog may have to live in their minivan. Again.
Crenshaw is a cat. He's large, he's outspoken, and he's imaginary. He has come back into Jackson's life to help him. But is an imaginary friend enough to save this family from losing everything?
Beloved author Katherine Applegate proves in unexpected ways that friends matter, whether real or imaginary. This title has Common Core connections.

I got this book in the mail and read it instantly. So good! This book is by the author of The One And Only Ivan, and she once again captures the hearts of her readers in this sad yet funny book. Totally five stars!
When I picked this book up, I knew that it would be good. After reading The One and Only Ivan, I was so excited to read the author's next book! In this book, Jackson wants to live a regular, normal, life. But because his family has financial problems, it was hard for him to live regularly. But when a imaginary friend jumps in, everything changes. But to find out what happens next, you'll have to read the book! I would definitely recommend this book to a friend, because it is very heartwarming book. The book made my feelings about imaginary friends definitely change!
I really think that Nicholas Gannon is a great author.

I just finished reading Crenshaw by Katherine Applegate. I loved it and would tell other people to read it because it's really cool. My favorite parts in the book was when Crenshaw was taking a bubble bath or when he was in the shower standing on his head.
I really liked the book until the end. I thought it should have ended with a bigger talk about Finian. I loved her other book, Ivan, more. But this one is really good because you get to see what kids who are less fortunate go through.
