A Tale of Magic...
By Chris Colfer
Fourteen-year-old Brystal Evergreen has always known she was destined for great things--that is, if she can survive the oppressive Southern Kingdom. Her only escape are books, but since it's illegal for women to read in her country, she has to find creative ways of acquiring them. Working as a maid at her local library gives her the perfect excuse to be near them and allows her to sneak a few titles home when no one is looking. But one day Brystal uncovers a secret section of the library and finds a book about magic that changes her life forever.
Magic is despised and outlawed throughout the world--Brystal is well aware of the severe consequences the book may bring--but her curiosity gets the best of her. By reading some of the text aloud, strange phenomena begin to occur and Brystal discovers she is capable of magic! And the more she practices it, the harder it becomes to hide.
After being caught and convicted, Brystal is saved by a mysterious woman named Madame Weatherberry. The woman takes Brystal to her Academy of Magic and teaches her to become a fairy. While Brystal studies magic and befriends the other students, Madame Weatherberry is suddenly called away on suspicious matters. When she doesn't return, Brystal and her friends work together to find and save their instructor. Along the way, the students discover Madame Weatherberry's true intentions for the academy are not what they seem, and they come face to face with a sinister plot that puts the fate of the world, and the fate of magic itself, in grave danger...

This book is literaly AMAZING! The stories in the book are so fun and exciting, it tells stories for all ages. They all filled me with humour and laughter. If you continue reading it gets funnir every chapter, Discover more and keep reading!
I enjoyed this book because it has so many cool characters and adventures, it takes place in different kingdoms and the Inbetween. I think this is a before the Land of Stories Series because what the characters become in this story they already are in the other.
I have read this book over and over and over again, yet I still fall in love with it every time. I think it was better than the Land of Stories series, which is saying something from me! 11/10, six stars, highly recommend.
This book is a prequel to the land of stories series. It shows the beginning of the land of stories, and how the fairy council got started. Brystal Evergreen is a girl who loves to read. But sadly reading is prohibited in her kingdom. When she finds a book of magic, she finds that she is a fairy, another sadly restricted thing in her kingdom. But thankfully, she is found by Madame Weatherberry, a fairy with the goal to return magic to the world. She finds many friends and begins to fit in with the magical community. But then she and her friends discover some things that may kill off the entire race of human beings.
I finished the series plus guide. I had been waiting for Soooooooooo long! I love this book! I give it 5 stars
I absolutely LOVE this book! I wasn't the biggest fan of the Land of Stories, so I was a bit wary when my friend found it at our local bookstore. The next day, I found it at our library, and I grudgingly decided to start reading it..... and now I can't believe I was skeptical about it!! This is one of my favorite books now, and it has so much suspense, fantasy and a little sadness. But let me clear some things up for those out there that were wary, like me: 1. This book has no relation to the Land of Stories, and it is not about Connors granddaughter. 2. If you are into magic, or Harry Potter, you will love this book! 3. Chris Colfer is amazing, and so is this book!
I decided to read this book after finishing the Land of Stories series and this book turned out to be really funny! Now this is one of my favorite books and I enjoy rereading it.This book is so amazing that I decided to read it to my younger sisters tonight!
