heres a narration i did on Brendan's Voyage book: Tell me about Brendan’s Voyage. What inspired Tim Severin to make the trip? What preparations were necessary for the trip? What was the route he took (start and stops between and destination)? How did the crew get along together in such a cramped space for that amount of time on the ocean? Brendan’s Voyage was started by Tim Severin because he wanted to prove that the Irish saint, Brendan, had sailed to America (he heard that from an old Irish legend.) Tim started to research about old Irish medvial boats. After awhile, he found a book that helped him learn about them more. He started to get people and supplies together to build the boat. Tim had to look for awhile to find the right people that knew how to sew leather together. (the boat was to be made out of leather like Saint Brendan would have built it.) Eventually he got all the work hands and supplies necessary to build the boat. They worked for along time on the boat, at least two years. Then Tim had to find the crew for the boat and decide what route to take. He decided on a route leading from the original place Brendan would have started off from. It was called Brendan’s Creek. The crew kind of came to him, so he didn’t have to do much work about that. Some of the crew came from the workers he had working with him on the boat, and a few volunteered from other places in Ireland. Eventually it was time to push off and leave. The crew had to decide where to sleep, and who should steer, and such matters. They did the steering in shifts, and they found places to sleep for each man aboard. They were very carful not to bring up hot topics such as politics, government, nitpicking at each other, etc., so they would not fight on the small boat. They made it to their first destination safely thanks to teamwork and cooperation.
