This morning, 35,000 lucky kids and their parents from all across America were invited to the White House to participate in the 134th Annual Easter Egg Roll, hosted by President Obama and his family.
Similar to last year, the theme dubbed Let's Go, Let's Play, Let's Move', was focused on Mrs. Obama's goal to get kids active and included fun sports like basketball, soccer, yoga, dancing and even Double Dutch! In addition, the kids got to cook (and eat) healthy snacks at the Kids Kitchen, under the supervision of world famous chefs.
But best of all - they got to hunt for 13,000 Easter eggs that had been scattered all over the White House lawn and listen to a special narration of Maurice Sendack's 'Where the Wild Things Are' - read by none other then President Barack Obama.
Mrs. Obama joined in the fun with "The Little Mouse, The Red Ripe Strawberry, and the Big Hungry Bear" by Don and Audrey Wood. Malia and Sasha did their part too, and took turns reading 'A Sick Day for Amos McGee', the poignant story of how zoo animals took the time to care for a keeper when he became sick.
In addition, the lucky guests also got to listen to books read by celebrities like Hollywood actors Forest Whitaker and Julianne Moore and be entertained by performers like Cody Simpson, Janelle Monae and even characters from 'Sesame Street.'
After a fun day, the revelers departed from the White House with not just fond memories but also, a souvenir - A wooden egg bearing the signature of both the President and the First Lady. Did someone say luckyyyyy?
