It seems as though people will do almost anything to get into the Guinness World Records - weave gum wrapper chains, host large tea parties, turn themselves into human torches and even, as was recently the case, topple over each other like dominos while lying on mattresses.

850 people came together in New Orleans last week and arranged themselves behind each other, holding mattresses. They then waited patiently as the human dominos came toppling backwards one after another until the final, 850th domino fell on to the ground, easily surpassing the 2011 record set in Belgium, by 550 people.

The effort not only earned New Orleans a spot in the Guinness World Records, but also, provided much needed mattresses to the city's shelters thanks to the fact, that all 850 of them were donated.
